Julie’s interest in gardening for butterflies began in
1993 when she joined a committee to create a butterfly garden within Sonoma State
University’s Native Plant
Garden. After 15 years, over 22 species of
butterflies can be observed. She
became an accredited flower show judge in 2006, is a past President of Santa
Rosa Garden Club.

Program: California Native Bees ‘Looking For Urban Estate'

Gordon Frankie, University of Calif., Berkeley

Last year Dr. Frankie spoke in
April and
packed the clubhouse full to standing room only! He's coming
again, this time for the night meeting.
He is a world-renowned leading expert on bees, a professor at UC
Berkeley, a biologist, entomologist,
and horticultural
ecologist. His program is
wonderful, easy to understand and extremely informative.

The 2009 Garden Tour is one of
our most important and fun events of the year. This year promises to be
spectacular. We have beautiful gardens, a energetic team working on
creating new elements that will be wonderful The feedback from the public is
always very positive about how lovely the gardens are and especially how
polite and kind the Ukiah Garden Club members are. If you can, sign up
to help hostess this special event and don't miss the fun.
